My wife and I were in Auburndale recently and had lunch at Pizza Town. It’s a small-sized restaurant but cozy on the inside. We somehow ended up sitting right underneath a stereo speaker, the music they were playing (primarily ’80s and ’90s Top 40) was a little too loud for us. That was our only real complaint with the experience. The gentleman who waited on us (who we took to be the owner) was very pleasant. They did not have their own parking lot, but we were there on a Saturday and had no trouble finding street parking close to the restaurant.
This is primarily a pizza place but they did have subs and pasta dishes on the menu. We had iced tea and Diet Coke to drink. We started our meal by sharing an appetizer of cheesy fries. Delicious. The fries were probably frozen and the mozzarella cheese was a bit too salty for our taste. Still, they’re cheesy fries, and these were not overly greasy like some cheesy fries I’ve had. It was a generous portion, plenty for two people to share.
For our main course we ordered a large (16-inch) pizza with basil, tomato, and garlic. The pizza was very well done. Not oversaturated with tomatoes or tomato sauce. A nice mixture of flavors. The crust was good. It was plenty for two of us, and we had some leftover to bring home.
With tip, our total came to about $31. Simple and straightforward, friendly service and tasty pizza. We were happy with our lunch at Pizza Town and would definitely return. They are on East Lake Avenue, just east of Main Street, in Auburndale.
