After a recent Saturday morning spent on tiring house work, my wife and I felt like an easy lunch that we could bring home. So we headed out to Subs ‘n Such in South Lakeland. You may recall we visited the Dixieland location for Subs ‘n Such a few months back. This visit was no less delightful.
The Dixieland location has limited indoor seating. The South Lakeland location has a couple of outdoor tables, but most likely you will want to take your food to eat elsewhere. I ordered an 8″ meatball sub sandwich. My wife ordered a Reuben sandwich. And, of course, the milkshakes. I ordered a chocolate chip shake and my wife ordered plain chocolate. The staff was friendly and we were the only customers there at the time, so we didn’t have to wait long for our food.
The shakes were outstanding, thick and chocolately, and mine had a good amount of chocolate chip bits. One thing I’ve enjoyed about this blog is the opportunity to sample milkshakes at so many Polk County restaurants. The shakes alone are worth going to Subs ‘n Such.
The sandwiches were also delicious. I did ask for pickles on my sub and didn’t get them, but that was not a big loss. It was still a hearty sandwich with plenty of flavor. My wife described her sandwich as “the perfect Reuben,” very generously portioned with a tasty pickle slice on the side. With tip our total came to about $30, definitely pricier than a fast food chain but we got excellent, good-sized sandwiches with made-to-order milkshakes. So if you’re looking for some subs or sandwiches for your next outing, consider stopping by Subs ‘n Such. Their South Lakeland location is in the Alamo Plaza shopping center, at the corner of South Florida Avenue and Alamo Drive.
